Wii Sports Resort

"Santa" brought Wii Sports Resort to our house this Christmas. I just have to say I absolutely LOVE this game. It brings our whole family together when even just one person is playing. We have nice healthy competitions with each other too. I like that it gets the boys active instead of just staring at a screen like their DS's do. They get so into the games on Sports Resort they're jumping around all over the place. There are a couple of games where you really don't have to get up and do anything, but most of them get you moving even if it is just a little bit.

If you're looking for a fun family game to play I highly recommend this one!

30 Days of writing prompts

 Day 1 --> Favorite song

I like so many songs. It's hard for me to say this one or that one is my favorite. But, the one song that I can absolutely say without a doubt is my all time favorite song is My Way - the Elvis Version. Frank Sinatra is the original singer. His version is good too, but I just LOVE Elvis' more.

I love this song and would have to have it played at my funeral. I think it sums me up pretty good.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels
and not the words of one who kneels
the record shows I took the blows
and did it my way!

Touch 'n Brush Review

I have two boys that are 6 and 10. It's amazing how much toothpaste two boys can get all over a bathroom. I've been envying the touch and brush for quite some time, but never wanted to take the plunge and risk $20 on it. I happened to see them for sale at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and decided to buy it from there because I could always return it if it turned out to be junk.

Let me just say this product ROCKS!!!! It is worth every penny. My only complaint is that I think it dispenses a little bit too much toothpaste. I really have nothing else bad to say about it. I haven't gone through an entire tube of toothpaste yet so I don't know if the touch 'n brush holds up to the claim that it gets all the toothpaste out, but my counter and walls are no longer painted in toothpaste. That's all that really matters to me.

Gamers: A Real Call of Duty

"Gamers, here's a real 'Call of Duty'

Posted: 07:09 PM ET

Plenty of hard-core gamers called in sick to work or school today, having been in line at midnight to grab a copy of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2." As expected, the reviews of the latest title in the series are glowing, with one taking special note of the realism of the opening scene at a U.S. Army base, and praising the believability of the setting.

But there's realism, and then there's reality – and no one's likely to make a videogame about the real difficulties many Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines face making the transition back into civilian life. It can be extremely tough to find jobs, especially in this economy: according to Activision Blizzard, the publisher of the Call of Duty series, more than 500,000 unemployed veterans live in the United States.

So the game isn't the only thing Activision Blizzard launched today. The Call of Duty Endowment, or CODE, is designed to raise awareness of the issue, and help fund organizations that provide veterans with job training and placement. Activision says CODE will receive the proceeds from sales of "Modern Warfare 2," which should jump-start its fundraising nicely. The non-profit's first grant: $125,000 to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, to help build a new vocational services center in Boston. CODE's directors say they hope to raise millions more for such projects.

We glorify our fighting men and women in games like "Call of Duty." We honor them when they fall. And many of us will take at least a moment tomorrow to remember them on Veterans Day.

Let's remember them in between those times, as well."

Saturday Breakfast

It's no secret that I'm lazy.  But, I like good homecooked breakfasts on the weekend.  Our newest favorite is waffles.  Have you ever stayed in a hotel that had waffles as part of their breakfast?  Well, I can make the same waffles for breakfast at home using the Waring Pro Belgian Waffle Maker and Golden Malted Waffle Mix.

The waffle maker is super easy to use.  It only takes about three minutes to make a waffle and the waffles are very thick.  One waffle is filling enough for breakfast.

The waffle mix is delicious.  It is much better than any waffle mix you can buy in the stores.  As far as I know this mix can only be ordered from the company on the internet, but it is worth the price of shipping.  The recipe listed on the container will make 2 1/2 waffles with the above waffle maker.  So, if you're making waffles for a family you will need to double or triple the recipe.

Work, Work, Work

I know I said I'd keep this blog updated regularly, but I've  been working all week.  When I work I'm just too tired to do anything on the computer in the evening.  I promise I haven't forgotten about you all.   The good news is that I love my job.  That makes getting up at 5:45 am and being exhausted in the evenings worthwhile.

Happy Halloween!

Coupons and Free Stuff

Who doesn't love free stuff?  My friend Charity is always getting really cool free samples in the mail.  I told her she'd better start sharing with me where she gets all her stuff from.   So I got a few of the links from her and I thought I'd share.

http://www.freebies4mom.com/   This site has a TON of printable coupons and links for free samples.  There is so much stuff to look at on it it's kind of overwhelming.

http://www.justfreestuff.com/  I haven't really looked at this one a whole lot.   They do have a facebook page as well.

http://www.cereal.com/  as the name implies this site has lots of things for breakfast, but they have other coupons and freebies too.
